Los Angeles skateboarding is still built on the kind of spots people talk about for years: iconic courthouse ledges, beachside flow, gritty neighborhood plazas, and pocket parks that punch above their size. The city’s scene is as much about vibe and history as it is about obstacles, and reviewers keep coming back to the same thing — when the layout is good, LA skaters will show up.
If you want the classic street feel, West LA Courthouse Skate Plaza gets called a "legendary spot" with "perfect" ledges, a big manual pad, and plenty of flat ground, though several reviewers note there are no ramps or bowls. For something with more flow, Venice Skatepark is the easy must-visit: bowl action, ocean views, and a packed mix of locals, visitors, beginners, and pros. Echo Park, Stoner, and Lake Street all get praise for squeezing a lot of usable skate into small spaces, even if dust, slopes, or crowding can make the session more of a mission.

Real reviews from the local skate community.
“The most famous skate spot in all of LA. Contrary to some other reviews online, it is still open and you are allowed to skate there. Rumour has it it will be demolished in 2023 as the actual courthouse is being renovated. but I've also seen that it might be saved. Either way, the ledges are perfect and theyre all actually slightly different heights.”
“Iconic LA skate spot. It’s still open and skateable lots of ledges and steps. manual pads flat ground spot. But no ramps bowls or half pipes. Parking could be tricky.”
“The energy here is always amazing—locals, visitors, pros, beginners, everyone just mixes in and creates such a cool vibe. The ocean breeze, the beach view, and the sound of boards hitting the concrete really make the whole experience feel iconic.”
“Fun skatepark with a good flow. The transition in the bowl is a bit hard to get used to but the street features are built well. It’s fun to be able to constantly cruise around in a loop hitting features. The lights are dim at night and there’s lots of brake dust from the freeway.”
“What an awesome skatepark. I have learned so many tricks here from some of the nicest people in the skateboarding community. It's a skate plaza, not a park, so you'll really need to know how to ollie to have fun here with the obstacles, people are supportive too so chances are someone will teach you to ollie if you talk to them when they're not busy. I feel like the manual pad is so awesome too it's the best height to learn how to ollie onto another platform and for getting longer manuals. The two banks/wall rides there are fun too and sketch in a good way. Theres also a small fun drop in section too.”
