Philadelphia’s skate scene is built for people who like a little grit with their concrete. Across the city you’ll find classic transition-heavy parks, DIY spots that keep evolving, and a couple of indoor spaces where beginners can get real coaching without the ego.
If you want the most Philly energy, 9th Street & Poplar DIY is the one reviewers keep calling out for its “long strip of random features,” bridge shade, and constant additions from the local crew. For more polished concrete, Whitehall Skatepark got a full overhaul with quarter pipes, rails, a spine, and a modern flow, while Grays Ferry Crescent and POPS are smaller, shade-friendly practice spots that skaters say are best for dialing in lines and basics.

Real reviews from the local skate community.
“Super fun diy skatepark. It’s a long strip of random features that you can cruise through or concentrate on one zone. The features range from normal quarter pipes and ledges to weird geometric banks and hips. It’s also under a bridge which provides shade and rain protection.”
“The lines here are fire. Great build. Hats off to the local crew that built the park.”
“The park got a total overhaul with build and design by the good folks from 5th pocket and finding from Vans. Completely modern cement design with several quarter pipes, rails, hubba and a spine. Great place for all skill levels and ages.”
“Small but a nice park for practicing runs or individual skills. Fast & smooth with nice transitions, not much in street skate features. Under a highway with a view of some big river and train tracks.”
“Amazing spot to learn to skate for all levels! I’ve been skating since I was a kid, but never had the guts to Ollie or ride half pipes. Within my first 10 mins of a private lesson with Brett, I landed an Ollie that was 27 years in the making!”
