Mather Skatepark comes across as a big, open street-style park with a mellow feel and a good mix of ledges, rails, stairs, hubbas, boxes, and a few quarters. Skaters repeatedly praise it as a place with something for everybody, especially if you like plaza/street terrain more than bowls. It seems especially friendly for beginners and intermediate skaters because several features are low and confidence-building, but more advanced riders also seem to enjoy the lines and variety. BMX riders are welcome too, and one reviewer specifically had a blast on a BMX bike. The park’s surface is described as smooth and the overall condition as well kept or well maintained. Crowd levels seem mixed: some say it rarely gets too crowded, while others note it can get packed at times. There is some shade and picnic seating, but heat can be rough in mid-day sun, and nighttime skating is only partially lit by nearby ball fields, with a few people wishing for better lights. The biggest complaint is the lack of bowls and the fact that restrooms and water are a bit of a walk away.
